Hi, just thought I should drop a note here since I imagine most authors won't be regularly checking [[Help:Templates]] for updates. I've finally added a template that I should have created long ago, a tag to put on userpages to facilitate linking to your personal story category; [[Template:My stories]]. If you want, just stick this code at the top of your userpage to create a standardized little box with a direct link in it: <nowiki>{{my stories}}</nowiki>. Blanked pages
What would you like me to do with your various blanked pages? Normally I'd take page blanking like this as a signal that you want the pages deleted, but you say in User:Fish/CYOE that you're going to eventually be posting the completed works again. At that time it'll be possible to merge the revision histories of these pages into the history of the finished work, if you like, so it might be simpler to just leave the blank pages in existence until then. Alternately, I could delete them now and undelete them later. Bryan 05:21, 14 November 2007 (EST)
Doesn't really matter to me — that'd be an internal, administrative-level decision. I don't know what effect it'd have on the software to keep them, but I suspect preserving the revision history consumes valuable disk space that probably is needed elsewhere. I'm not even sure that I'll restore the CYOE in the same order, in the same hierarchy, with the same characters, in the same location as before, so saving all of it might just be a waste of space and time. --Fish 17:03, 14 November 2007 (EST)
- It doesn't, actually. "Deleted" revisions are actually retained, stored in a separate database table so that admins can see their contents and potentially restore them if need be. But it'd probably be tidier for wiki management purposes to delete them for the time being. Bryan 23:36, 14 November 2007 (EST)
- Go ahead and delete them, then, I guess. When I put the pages back up I intend to title them something a bit more descriptive. Using numbers makes it hard to keep track of which pages are which, both for me, and for readers who want to pick up at a favorite story branch. --Fish 17:27, 16 November 2007 (EST)
