What about translation of copyrighted materials? Like Russian version of the 'Pet shop of horrors'? Fanfiction?

For manual translations I believe you are usually required to have the permission of the copyright owner before performing the translation under the Bern Convention (international copyright treaty)...
Fanfic is fine — One of Bard's stories is a WH40k fanfic :)
For copyrighted materials with the authors permissions... We have done this in the past for works by Phil Geusz.
