In this past October (2020) the Shifti Community lost Chris "Robotech Master" Meadows to an accident involving an SUV hitting his electric bike and leaving the scene. While we may never know the full story of this event, the administrators of Shifti will work to preserve his account and works here as he'd wish us to. Thank you all for being such excellent people.

Welcome to Shifti! Always glad to see new contributors. This is a bit of a standard boilerplate introduction that will hopefully help get you started on some of the basics you might not have noticed. Firstly, there's a main index of help pages at Help:Contents - a link is provided in the default sidebar titled "Help." It's a good idea to browse through the table of contents there so you'll know what information is available should you need it.

If you're here to post stories, there's a guide specifically for the basics of that over at Help:Posting stories. General editing assistance is at Help:Editing, and information about how to use talk pages (like this one) is at Help:Talk pages. If any of the formatting seems esoteric at first, don't worry - wikis are collaborative and other editors and administrators will come around to help tidy up anything that's left in a messy state, if you want. The more complex details can be learned later as you go.

You can set up a personal homepage for yourself at your root user page, which you can find by clicking on your user name at the top of the page. Use your user page however you see fit; most authors generally list their stories there, along with a bit of biographical information about themselves and perhaps some links to other websites. See Help:User pages.

If you have any questions, you can either click the edit link for this page and write it here or you can follow the link in my signature to my own home page and leave it in the talk page over there. You can find a list of Shifti's administrators at Shifti:Administrators. Once you've got your bearings, feel free to delete this welcome message from your user talk page. Sorry for the welcome-lag, but your registration kinda got temporarily lost thanks to all the spammers that hit the same day. Anyway... Welcome to Shifti and we do hope you'll be contributing soon! -- ShadowWolf 16:12, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
If you are still watching this, I apoligize for the bad timing. I assure you, I am not a spammer! It might take me a while to make any significant contribution, but I dislike them as much as anyone else. And don't worry about the lag. I completely understand. RunsWithFurs 23:48, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Didn't think you were - username didn't look like it and you didn't immediately upload an image and create a page. Instead you created a template :) -- ShadowWolf 00:08, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
Hey, I enjoy templates! ;) They can simplify so many aspects of creating a page. Of course, I can get so involved with the templates that I do not add any actual content (it happened on the last Wiki I tried to start). I will try to actually use this account for stories, though. Thanks for understanding! RunsWithFurs 00:28, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Seeing your addition to the Comment Tag template I'm pondering asking you for some assistance to remake the various semantic tagging bits that were lost in the crash. However... I think I've got them mostly stored in my head somewhere - it'll just take the right motivation for my mind to spit them out and get them through my fingers back into the systems here. -- ShadowWolf 01:20, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

I'd be glad to help! I won't claim to write flawless code, and I have not had a chance to do anything with some of the advanced features, like any semantic functions, before, but I can generally get wikicode to do what I want it to and I should be able to figure out what I don't know. Let me know if you decide to bring me on board, but don't feel rushed—I'll always have this page on my watchlist—or forced to do so—you will always know what you want better than I will. - RunsWithFurs 05:55, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
