This makes me really like the character and shows that he isn't as perfect as some people like to write their personal inserts into story-verses. He's competent without being amazingly so (though that could be possible - there isn't enough material to go on... for all I know he could be the reincarnation of Montgomery Scott) and has flaws that make him more "human" (for certain definitions of such.
