Projects of interest to Devin
This is going to be an admittedly short list but this will basically list the different sort of projects that are holding my interest these days and what im doing with them.
PAW
This is one of the most interesting ideas I've come across in a while. Its basically a restart of the blind pig setting, a universe of storys that I found interesting for the quality and the fact that most if not all were set in a real modern day setting.
My interest in this idea lies in my discomforts with the blind pig setting itself.
I have heard it said that the setting went downhill with the introduction of the anti technologically religious humans, but in my mind these people were inevitable considering the subject matter of a lot of the stories in this setting.
Simply put writing stories about being different from the rest of humanity and being oppressed for it is a lot easier to do when theirs people to do the oppressing. The reason I stopped reading as much of the setting as I used to was that I began to feel that if I've read one story about a fur living off the streets under the thumb of a bigoted religious human society I've read them all...
So in summary I love the idea of furs and humans living together in a modern day setting but in the blind pig it seemed as if the humans and furs hated each other too much for anything really important to be learned by having the two living under the same roof as it were.
TBPRR
The Blind Pig Round Robin
A collaborative story set in the blind pig setting.
This was one of the first projects I got into when I began writing and I owe a lot of what i've learned in the last few years to the awesome people in this project.
That said looking at this project today only makes me realize how little I knew about writing back when I started and how much I've still yet to learn today. I had a brief period(read a year or so) during which I just didn't get anything creative done due to some shit going down in my family and in that period I lost track of where I was going with what I was writing in this project.
Trying to get back into this has only served to reinforce the feeling that I really still have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to this stuff. I'm getting better bit by bit but not fast enough that I have any clue what to do with regards to this project. I have to admit that I have felt like dropping out for a while now but I've just been too stubborn to admit that I'm in over my head.
Not sure what I'm hoping for with this. I guess at the least I'm hoping that I can at least keep from disappointing the other project members who were so helpful when I started writing for this.
Modern Day Furry Settings
By now you may have deduced that settings involving the mingling of furries and humans in a modern day society is of particular interest to me. While there are lots of furry stories set in modern day settings not a whole lot of these actually explore the way these two would interact.
Some however do but dont quite grip me the same way as the idea behind PAW and TBP do but are nevertheless worth checking out are...
Based off a story of Jon's called Actaeon_Reborn this is one of the most interesting mixes of magic and modern day living that I've seen in a written setting.
All the magic and transformation goodness of metamor keep but set in a futuristic metropolis.

The story winds of change was actually the first piece of furry fiction I ever came across. I remember when I first read through how interesting I found the idea of all these different species with all their different abilitys and needs living in one society. It didn't have any humans in it beyond the teenagers whose only purpose was to be there so storys could be written involving them tfing into stuff but this was and still is one of my favorite furry settings.
Space Opera
This has been a genre that has held my interest since I started reading. Star ships, aliens, bizare planets and ancient civilizations are all a part of this big wide sub genre and its occupied a lot of my thoughts whenever my mind turns to reading.
That said I still hesitate to try my hand at it until I feel I have at least mastered some of the basic concepts of writing, which is what I am attempting to do with my short stories and work in other settings.
I have however found several sources of inspiration in my reading that you may find useful as well.

Lets face it. My high school education isn't even worth associating with the word education. It wasn't until after I finished high school and got out into the big wide RL that I developed an interest in writing. Since then I've been attempting to relearn all the stuff I ignored in my high school english classes. (Doh!)
I have also never really had any foundation in the hard sciences. The social sciences along with phys ed I absolutely rocked at but I always had a hard time with stuff like math and science.
This site has been bar none the biggest help I have had in learning the science behind interstellar travel and I wanna give a huge thanks to User:Michael_Bard for introducing me to it.
The formerly arcane concept of 'Hard' scifi has been made a lot easier for me to contemplate thanks to this site.
Visual Art
Everything here is noticeably in the written medium, however I do like viewing the visual medium of transformation and furry art just as much. Although I have not made any great strides of my own in this medium I am open to learning and when I get to the point that I can actually call my dablings in this venture 'progress' will update this. ;)
