This short novel is in the same setting as my earlier stories "Butterflies are the Gentlest", "A House Divided" and "Nora and the Nomads". I tried to write it as as stand-alone, but if you find it confusing, try reading "Butterflies are the Gentlest" first. It is set about ten years later, but involves none of the same characters.
