Interesting story. It's rare to think about the sort of health issues anthropomorphic animals might have. I like the way that this setting seems to show a higher than usual amount of speculation on implications.
One thing NorBAC might want to look into is the question of prions—whether furries are close enough to their four-footed forebears that eating their flesh could bring on Mad Furry Disease (kuru). This could become pretty important as the 2010s go by. It's possible that the FDA might have to insist on new warning labels on foods: "Contains beef-derived proteins.
