You know, I was thinking of TV shows in a Changing world, and realized something.

A Community Doctor effectively mauls ('with a rake') a home intruder and gets away with it without any punishment at all. That is prime CSI and Law and Order story fodder.

Maybe in passing, you could mention the Hollywood types contacting the good doctor for more details of the case for a future story ("All people and places are made up and not based on real events") ideas for the series. The resultant story would be heavily fictionalized, and the Doctor probably would not get away with it in the end but still, fun possibilities. :)

It might work, but the story was effectively "killed" in the setting. It would eventually get out (it's known by the Changed community, albeit in a rumor-ish way) The local media only picked it up briefly as another home intruder killed by homeowner. I suppose in a post-changed world, I could see it coming up on a CSI type show ("Rake? These marks look more like claws...")
It's a situation where there wasn't an intrinsic crime (killing a home invader who has a weapon is not a crime in Washington state) but Clay and others participated in a cover-up to conceal the exact nature of that incident. That could get them all in trouble later, but it's unlikely given the exact circumstances of the incident.
Your suggestion did spark an idea you might like involving your character Shiloh. I don't think I have time to write it, but you might be able to use it. I'll chat with you on IRC about it next time I'm on.

What kicked off that line of thought was some discussions Jon and I have been having over his pondering to have a House ep dealing with a Changed (written assumeably by a Change writer), which knocked my own thought processes onto what the procedurals (Law and Orders, CSI's, Without a Trace, Cold Case, etc...) will do, especially as more and more Writers start changing.
On the one hand, the case itself was probably low-key enough to not catch the writer's attention early on. But as time goes by (and the grapevine spreads the rumours), I wouldn't be surprised if it might be used as a nugget for a story in a later season show (circa '08-09 or 09-10 maybe; since 07-08 was so shortened anyways). From watching "Exhibit Eh" (Sorry "Exhibit A") and "Cold Case Files" and other true-life crime shows, it's sort've amazing how many cases give you a strong sense of Deja Vu because they've been cribbed from for the fictional shows.
The good Doctor may someday hear the watercooler talk about a case eerily similar to his encounter sometime in the future. (Though heavily fictionalized; L&O would probably morph the intruder into the distraught husband of a patient who died due to covered up medical mistakes; CSI would probably focus on the weapon instead and may just use it as a B-Story. :) )
Oh and about the coverup itself, and not about TVizing it, you may want to go back and change the rake to 'garden shears gloves' or something like that. It's rather cliched and Freddy Kreuger-ish, but they'd probably be more believable to make those markings, and easier to explain why they were in the house than a long handled rake would be.
