Here's a selection of stories that don't suck.
...just kidding. These are stories I Like, but I can't tell you what makes me Like a story since I haven't a clue myself. Generally it seems to be something along the lines of
- Vivid descriptions
- Focuses on aftermath of TF
- Foreshadowing
- Animals
- Hope
And the things that do poorly for me in a story include
- Plot holes
- Obvious Good and Evil
- The Grin
- Power imbalance
Anyway, here's the list.
- How the Celolowhatever Survived - a lame "here we go again" ending, but good otherwise
- Be Prepared - Pretty good although I think that moose has been in more than one of Jon's stories before
- Best Friends - awwww pupppieees
- Just Because You're Paranoid - awesomeness the life of animals magic intrigue. I remember this one! Haven't seen it in years. Too many raccoons. -.-
- Care and Feeding - Ptooey!
- Change of Seasons - Raccoons are warm
- Escape Window of Opportunity Consolidation - A well balanced (so far) story with the barest flickers of hope.
- The Coyote and Road Runner Show - Inexplicably well balanced, plus tasty snakes
- Echoes - Not just a story, a philosophical treatise
- Gillie's Gift - awwww melted faces how cute
- Gonna Rain Tomorra - ah the charms of old country livin
- Good God! - Why yes I do like the fresh taste of wood, why do y-AAAK!
- I Need More Maple Syrup - because the best things in life are sweet
- Mortal Danger - this story molded my childhood. Or something.
- Olympus - guess :p
- Flag - ...I really don't know why I like this one.
- Questions and Answers - "How do you feel?" "Like a raccoon."
- Testing the Waters - because it really is a nice community after all.
- Surly Bonds of Earth - no real point to this one. Maybe take it off the list, eh. It's not terrible.
- What You Eat - Now that's what I call spicing up a boring day at the office.
- Who Hunts the Hunter? - Edge of my seat I tellya
- You get what you Wished for - kind of mean, but kind of funny
- Xanadu - flagship story for a great setting full of er... potential
- Witchhunt - because Arthur Hall is a ballerina.
- Against Type - pretty good, though all the vivid descriptions of shapely women was kind of...unsettling
- Far Indeed From Sherwood Forest - well at least somebody had a sense of humor
- Fashionably Late - sometimes it just doesn't pay to be late
- Five Hours, Thirty-two Minutes - because they are gonna translate pikachu
- The Perils of Voice Acting - no clue, sorry. I... I just like it.
