I was listening to Rocket Man while working at the gallery when a character formed and started singing along. He was a stormtrooper, and turned to me when the song ended.

"You need someone who flies but isn't a pilot," he said, smiling. "C'mon, you haven't written anyone like that since Lynette."

"Gods, don't remind me," I told him, flinching.

"Someone whose greatest thrill is leaping, kicking in the thrusters, and riding them into the sky. Someone who likes freefall, for that matter. And is never, ever airsick."

"...You know, I have been thinking about how we're going to get Steph to Garrett," I tell him. "I was going with the speederbike, but actually this might be better."

"Great!" Unfortunately, he was one of the characters who forms backstory as soon as I start thinking about it. And when there is no chance to write, I can't stop thinking about backstories. "I'm from fairly early in the Empire, my original was a natural pilot known for surviving everything, I would also be the perfect protagonist for that thing with the thresher maw you keep picturing, I'm really rather singleminded but not really stupid or anything, I have this thing about not being hostile to people who aren't the enemy..."

Previous versions of the pic were different. Maybe now I can draw someone different! Maybe now - oh, crap.
