This template is used to format the first letter of a paragraph (or first word, should you choose to use more than one letter as a parameter) so that it's a "drop cap", ie, an extra-large letter that hangs down so that the rest of the text flows around it. This is a popular decoration for the first paragraph of a story, or the first paragraph of a chapter in the case of very long stories. The template doesn't work so well if you use it in the middle of a paragraph. It's very simple to use, the main reason why this documentation is so long is to provide an example of what the template looks like using a lengthy paragraph to ensure that there are enough lines.

To use this template, do the following:

{{dropcap|F}}irst line of the story.

Don't put a space between the end of the template and the rest of the word.
