As I sat on the edge of eternity, my mind wandered.

Seven days of madness had consumed my love, my life, my loneliness.

I sat on the rock at the edge of forever and looked down at my hands

The gun still smoked

With a cry, I hurled the tool of my change into the river at the bottom.

It melted into the diamond sands at the bottom.

I cried.

That was ten days ago.

I still sit here, though not from choice.

My chrysalis has formed. I am trapped within a prison of my own madness.

Seventeen days without sustenance have dried the wits from my skull. All that yet lives is ash.

The dam bursts. The egg breaks. The waters of life come cascading through the canyon I have placed myself in.

Through the pounding waves of realization, I am carried into the sea.

Forever is no more.

Thus does my body make its way back to truth.

The waters have returned blistering sanity to my parched mind.

I break free of my shell,

And leap.
