{{Dropcap|F}}elix parked his bicycle in the library's bike rack and opened the first door in the library's airlock-esque entrance. The door was handicap accessible and the other door was always locked, so he waited for it to finish closing before opening the second, handicap inaccessible door, so as not to disturb other library-goers with the noise. He would normally take his books out of the bag he used to carry them on the bike, but this was one of those rare times when he did not, in fact, have a library book checked out, so he inspected the many pieces of paper taped to the door. The door finished its slow return to closed position, and Felix entered the main room, waving to the librarian as he went.

"Is Ender's Game in?" Felix inquired, because he had been waiting for it for a few weeks and it had been checked out every time he checked.

"Yes dearie; its over in the 'Reserved' bin." The elderly woman stood up and pointed to a small metallic bin near a statue of Mark Twain in the center of the room.

"Thanks." Felix walked to the bin and took the medium-length book. Afterwards, he went to the non-fiction section and selected a book about quantum physics. He walked back to the librarian to check out his two books, and she asked if he was ready for school to start.

"I don't think anyone ever answers yes to that question." He replied with a smile.

"Not even we, the librarians I mean, like it when school starts. Kids these days- not you of course- don't respect anyone's property and our books come back broken." The librarian lamented as she handed the books back to Felix, who placed them in his bag and left with a friendly goodbye, which was returned by the librarian. As he got back onto his bicycle, he felt the beginnings of a headache and a congested nose. ''Oh joy.'' He sighed and started to pedal back to his house down the street, not paying much attention to the beautiful scenery because it was just another aspect of living in that town in Georgia. His symptoms got progressively worse as he neared the short path through a wall of trees that led to his street from a field near the local primary school, and, to make things even worse, it started to rain. The rain didn't bother Felix all that much, however. He liked the rain. What ''did'' bother him about it was that, because he was breathing through his mouth, drops of rain would fly in and make him cough. When he finally arrived at his driveway, the few drops of rain that had been falling early had given way to a veritable deluge, and Felix was sopping wet when he jumped onto his porch. In his rush to reach the door, he slipped, his foot shooting upwards in an arc and ending with him sitting in a puddle.

The adventure of the day almost over, Felix opened the door and walked in, careful not to step on the carpet without taking his shoes off first.
