She hadn’t shut up about it for 3 months since she had applied to them. “Don’t get your hopes up,” they had said, “You are still very young. Smart or not, they may not take you on” they had reasoned. The lab had called her in for a final interview, and then asked her to wait while they had a doctor give her a medical, and then told her she had it. They joked about having to sedate her to get her to stop screaming, which made her almost choke trying not to laugh.
