Traversing the northern forests in the early spring was never an easy task, and were it not for the rewards, Richard Farns would never brave the cold and long hikes. He cursed under breath that stirred the air with a fine mist, angry that his quarry this year was a much longer hike from civilization than the previous years had been. Those had been much easier, quickly moving in and taking his prize, then getting back to the warm comforts of the cabin with it's large fireplace and central heating. This time seemed to be plagued with bad luck, from being stranded at the airport for days because of a freak storm, to spraining an ankle hiking to the cabin, the thoughts of cold hard cash the only thing egging him on.

He stopped to rest against a large oak, setting down his equipment before rubbing his gloved hands together to try to warm them up a bit, and shaking some still present snow from his coat and woolen cap. His equipment was rather heavy for a hike, and he was left to carry some of it after his old sled broke as he was only able to find a smaller one in such short notice to his trip. Ranging from lanterns, blankets, and a tent to nets, guns, and cages, he was obviously after some sort of animal, a trapper of sorts, although far from the legal variety.

Richard stretched his arms and legs quickly before picking up the pace again, using his trusty GPS unit to guide himself. His previous source had been arrested for wildlife trafficking the previous year but he was lucky to have found another, one ray of light in his unlucky year. A researcher who frequented the forests of the north for his studies whom he had convinced to share his information, under the guise of being a fellow wildlife enthusiast. The area he had been observing all winter was given quite freely, and he had made sure to find out ahead of time that the researcher would be out of town when he made his trip so as not to be spotted and ruin his source of information.

Deeper into the forest he traveled, following deerpaths now and then but mostly pressing his own way through underbrush and over still frozen streams and lakes. It was not long before dusk was approaching, and Richard decided to set up camp on the edge of a large lake he had just crossed over. Setting a fire for himself before setting up his tent and preparing some canned beans and jerky for dinner. The cold harsh winds picked up across the lake, driving him into his tent for the night early and annoying him a bit further. Within the relative safety of his tent he checked over each piece of equipment. His guns were loaded, the cages were in top condition, and the sled was only showing minor wear, it seemed like luck was starting to look after him.

It was near midnight when he was awakened by rustling near his tent, something moving about, likely drawn by the smell of his earlier meal. He grabbed one of his rifles and moved to the door of the tent, peering out slowly and carefully to see what was lurking nearby. To his surprise he found himself watching a rather large male wolf snacking on the small portions of his meal that had fallen from his cast iron plate while he ate, he had to be close to his destination if there was a wolf here. So far out, it was as if they somehow knew what he had been up to and had relocated to try to avoid him, or even annoy him somehow, these thoughts making him grumble to himself again.

Grumbling which caught the wolf's attention, it's ears perking towards the tent, and it's eyes soon following, staring straight Richard. They were shining orbs, lit by the light of the full moon above, seeming to peer deep into his soul. He shuddered as the wolf stared, the night seemingly colder to him now. He resisted his urge to yell and drive the wolf away, not wanting to alert it to his actions and ruin his chances in the morning, he simply retreated into the tent and back into his sleeping bag. Falling asleep while amusing himself with thoughts of money and victory over the seemingly lesser creatures.

The morning came all too soon, a cross man rising from his sleep with limbs aching all over from having to sleep on the frozen ground. He quickly packed and set out once again, stopping to raise an eyebrow to the wolf tracks that had apparently circled his tent a few times before heading off. Blasted creatures, waking him in the dead of night and likely thinking of him as a snack, he'd certainly show them just who was at the top of the chain today.

It was another hour of travel till Richard finally stopped, his GPS blinking to indicate he had reached his destination. He looked out from the edge of a large clearing in the trees, shielding his eyes from the sun as he scanned about for the telltale signs of where his quarry would be. A wry smile crossed his lips as he noticed a mound of dirt and stone near the middle of the clearing, a wolf's den, and within would be what he traveled all this way for.

He dragged his sled out into the clearing, not minding the wolves who were sleeping nearby, some raising to stare at him, two others running off quickly into the forest. They were always like this, trying to show off. He readied one of his guns and looked around, none of the wolves were approaching him, not even as he came right up to the den. Strange, most packs had risen to defend their pups when he had come to take them away, but this pack seemed satisfied to watch on instead. He laughed to himself, this pack certainly knew their place in the world, they didn't stand a chance against a man with his weapons, they were stuck in their lot, at his mercy.

He set up the cages around the den in preparation for their upcoming occupants, and readied a hand gun, for his rifle was much too large to take into the den with him, and he didn't want to go unarmed into the den, knowing the mothers often fought fiercely to protect their pups and required a bullet or two to quiet. Taking a deep breath he knelt by the entrance, cupping his hand around his ear to hear a little better into the den. The sounds of whimpering, scuffling about, yips and whines...the researcher was correct, there was a litter of pups inside.

He licked his lips, it sounded like a large litter, the kind he liked the most. Rich collectors and crazed pet seekers paid top dollar for wolf pups, and a large litter could keep him fed all year long. He slid onto his stomach and began to inch his way into the den, the sunlight growing dim as his upper body crawled inside. Soon the darkness had surrounded him entirely, and he was left with just a small flashlight stuck in his hat to guide his way. This was certainly a long tunnel, and to get all the pups would require a few trips perhaps, a fact which made him curse to himself again.

The den seemed to open up wider the further he went in, the smell of earth, wolves, and afterbirth clogging his nose. Arriving into what seemed like a very large chamber his flashlight revealed his targets, eyes freshly opened, perhaps earlier that day, a large litter of pups squirming and tumbling about in play, or feeding on their rather large mother. The mother! He cursed his luck, not only was she in the den with the pups, she was huge! Easily the largest wolf he had ever encountered in his life, and certainly not one he wanted to ever have to tangle with.

The wolfess raised her head and stared at the man who had invaded the sanctity of her den and violated the safety of her pups. Richard braced himself, reaching for his revolver but to his surprise the wolfess didn't move, nor did she curl her lips or bare a fang. This was unusual, but he figured she was like the rest of the pack, lesser creatures that knew their place under him in the world. He chuckled, reaching towards one of the pups closest to him, they were rather large too, likely a trait of the mother, a trait that would fetch a hefty price back home.

The wolfess sighed as he grabbed the startled pup, which yelped and squirmed, and with a sudden movement, without so much as a warning, Richard found his hand bleeding from the puncture marks her fangs had made. He cursed loudly, dropping the pup and trying to aim his gun, his aim was shakey at best and he was finding it very hard to hold onto the weapon. His hand felt numb and was pulsing with severe pain, it was unusual for a wolf bite, she had to have hit something important.

The wolfess stood up, seeming even larger than before while on all fours, and swiped with her massive paw, sending the gun tumbling into the den and out of reach, and making Richard's hand hurt even worse. He yelled out in pain, cursing and trying to turn around and get out of the den, away from the defensive mother wolf. Without a gun he was helpless, he needed to escape and grab one of his backups, then he'd show her who was boss and take revenge for his hand. He found turning around to be a pain at first, but he seemed to find a larger area to turn around in with ease.

He looked over his shoulder as he began to try to crawl back out of the den, looking straight into the sorrowful eyes of the mother wolf, who shook her head again and settled back down. Richard took advantage of the moment to move, he found the spacious area he was in easier to crawl out from, he could even do so on hands and knees, something he wasn't able to do when he went in. As he placed his injured hand down to crawl, the pain shot up his arm and caused him to stumble and fall onto his shoulder, the flashlight he had been using for guidance suddenly falling loose from the jolt. The light cut out as it hit the ground and rolled away, leaving him in darkness within the den.

He didn't have time to find the fallen light, he had to escape and get his replacements before he was torn apart by the wolfess, and so he continued on slowly in his injured state. The darkness made him feel colder for some reason, and his arms and legs began to cramp up making it harder to crawl and his escape slower. He must have cramped them in his urgency to escape, he thought in annoyance. The tunnel seemed longer than he remembered going in, and the ceiling seemed to be getting taller and taller the further he went. He cursed again, had he made a wrong turn somewhere down a side path? There was a breeze from ahead, he could smell the fresh air, so he had to be heading out of the den one way or another.

He winced as a sudden stiffness and pain shot through his body, his arms and legs not wanting to move normally anymore, and his body feeling as if it was being stretched and pulled in all directions. He was starting to panic now, we he infected with something from that bite? Had he eaten some bad food? He needed to get out as fast as possible, and so he struggled, trying to find a way to move himself again. He found it easier to prop himself on the balls of his feet and toes, and on his palms and fingers than to crawl on arms and legs or knees and hands. It was an unusual position but if it could move him to safety it didn't matter.

He wobbled onwards, feeling suddenly cold all over, as if he were naked. The stiffness, the cold, the aches...Hypothermia he assumed. Pressing on he found himself growing weaker, his limbs shaky and muscles stiff and weak, and that blasted wolf scent was getting annoying, seemingly getting stronger in his nose. He stumbled again, finding himself on his chest with his arms and legs splayed out to his sides, pain shooting up the injured hand again. Trying to clench his hands into fists in reaction to the pain he found a new problem, his fingers barely moved, it felt as if they were cut short and would only bend at their tips.

More problems arose for the trapper within the den, he could feel the coldness sweeping over his entire form, making his nose and face ache terribly and with the ache the scent grew even stronger. Flooding his senses and making him gag from the stench. The gag made him shudder even more, it seemed the cold had spread so much that he could barely feel his teeth, in fact he couldn't feel them at all anymore. This was very bad, he didn't want to die out here and end up food for the wolves.

Getting up while shivering and staggering on weak limbs took some effort, but he managed to do so once again, half crawling down the tunnel towards the scent of fresh air. Soon he was finding himself out of breath, since when was he this weak? He had to stop to take a break for a second and try to regain a least a small portion of his strength. Trying to fold his arms around his chest was useless, they were too weak and stiff to bend very much at all anymore, and his legs felt like they were locked in the knee-bent position he had been moving on.

A sharp pain in his chest sent him sprawled to the floor again, and it felt like he was pushed up a little as the pain increased, and that strange pulling sensation appeared again. This time it was in three places at once, his ears, his chest, and at his rump. It made him ache and whimper in discomfort, what did he do to deserve this? As he rest laying on his chest, the coldness started to flow away, bringing a strong ticklish feeling of pinpricks all over his body as if every hair was standing on end, an every pore on his body was being poked.

The loss of the coldness worried him, while it certainly felt like he was warmer than he was before all this had happened, he knew it had to be a sign of severe frostbite, those damned pups aren't worth this he thought. Fresh air flooded his nostrils, breathing a little more hope and strength into him but at the same time he felt a strange longing for that strong scent of wolf he was leaving behind. Delusions, he had to get out, he had to ignore them and get to a his things, start a fire and warm up.

Waddling onwards chest rubbing against the den floor, about the only thing he found himself still capable of doing, he found the darkness starting to open up into more light. It was blurry, in fact everything was blurry still in his vision, it had to be from the cold and being in the dark for so long, but at least it was another glimmer of hope. It gave some perspective as to where he was at least, he had obviously taken a wrong turn earlier like he thought as this area of the den was huge, it seemed as if he could stand up and still have room to spare, were he not in his current condition. Waddling onward as the pulling sensations stopped, he felt something hanging between his legs and his rump, and it seemed to move and shiver with him, he must have torn his pants or worse in his escape.

A strong shudder came over him suddenly, his mind reeling as a severe headache struck from seemingly nowhere, spiking his fears to new heights and providing a sudden rush of adrenaline to his weakened body. He growled and whimpered at the pain in his head and hand as he rose once again to all fours, and pushed himself hard towards the growing light ahead, it was the exit, and it was gigantic!

He gave a happy cry and gave one last push, rushing as fast as he could towards freedom and safety, the light opening up into the sunlit world around him! He was so overjoyed by escaping the den that he forgot to look straight ahead of himself, and suddenly found himself running into something soft, warm, and very very big.

The large male wolf had returned to his pack, a dead rabbit in his muzzle for his mate waiting with their pups. As he approached the den he felt something suddenly bump into one of his forelegs, startling him and causing him to stop, looking down at whatever it was. A small bundle of black fur shivered atop one of his massive forepaws, slowly lifting it's tiny head to look up at him with freshly opened blue eyes filled with a mix of fear and confusion. The male set the rabbit down as the small form backed away and fell over onto it's back, giving a frightened yelp. He chuckled in a wolfish way and nosed the toppled bundle of blackness, which whined and cried loudly, pawing weakly at his nose as if trying to fight.

Certainly a brave little pup he was, coming out of the den all alone like this and trying to fight back against his father, perhaps he'd grow into a fine alpha one day. He nosed the pup over, who was seemingly trying to escape the larger male, and plucked him up by the scruff gently. The pup froze and whimpered loudly, dangling from his father's jaws in confusion. The doting father ducked his head as he entered the den, pups always were afraid and confused of the world outside the den, and it was much too early for them to be peeking outside.

He navigated the narrow passageway with ease, having done so many times to feed his loving mate in the past. Arriving into the large chamber where his mate was feeding the other pups he chuffed in greeting to her and set the whimpering black pup amongst his brothers and sisters, who quickly crawled atop him in play. The pup still seemed a bit confused, wobbling back and forth in place for a few seconds before blinking and shaking his fur out and pushing with paws at the pup atop him.

The mother licked her mate on his nose and gave a loving nuzzle, before turning to the black bundle that was brought to her and nosing him onto his side. She groomed the pup carefully and lovingly, taking especially extra care with one of his tiny forepaws, which bore a small injury. She sighed contently, kicking the flashlight and gun into the corner to be buried later. For now she had her litter to feed along with the new pup to tend to and watch over.

The black pup squirmed a bit as he was groomed, the scent of the wolves so strong once again, and the scent of the wolfess making him feel nervous but at the same time, safe. He was confused, having been snatched up by a wolf much larger than him, whose scent made him feel much like the wolfess's scent did, and dropped in the litter of pups that were the same size as he was now. He wobbled, looking around as the headache began to fade, his thoughts growing cloudy as urges began to grow within his mind. Instincts taking root, an urge to feed, to stay close to the wolf and wolfess...his mother and father? To play and wrestle with the pups...his siblings? It was all so confusing, and with the cloudiness increasing he found himself waddling in close to the mother, another hungry mouth eager to feed.

A wish, such a fickle thing arising from the minds of every being, some are harmless, some filled with greed and vileness, others more entertaining in their format. To make a wish is a delicate art, for such a powerful thing to come to pass it must follow the strictest of guidelines, to the word one could say. It is for that reason the entertaining wishes are often the most haphazard, and most interesting to see come to light. One who possessed such a wish bore the name of Ren, a young man with a pension for unusual entertainment, something to lead him to the spotlight within the niche he felt part of.

Ren was a quiet lad, keeping to himself outside of his niche group of friends, going about his daily life within the shadows of the norm. Within his group of friends he was a little more outgoing, but still quite a bit shy and reserved, secretly wishing all the while to stand out, to garner the attentions of the many, rather than his small group of friends. In his group were those who paid great money for the most wondrous costumes, or even made them themselves, and it was these people that attracted the most attention. The better the costume, the more of a following they had, the more famous within his niche they were, the more they stood out.

It was for those reasons that Ren wanted to be part of that group of costumers, to stand out in the crowd, to be somebody. Hidden away from everyone with only the costume to see, something people loved most instantly, ignoring the one inside. Alas, Ren was not a wealthy lad, his forays into the various shops and dealings with the many crafters left him without the costume he so wanted, and so he was left to dreaming, and within dreams grow wishes.

It was the morning of a yearly gathering for his group, three days when many from around the world would come together for events and socializing. This event made him happy but at the same time, depressed over his lack of proper attire, at least in his mind. A desperate attempt to find what he believed he needed lead him towards the room where the many merchants of the event gathered to peddle their wares, but alas the room was empty.

At least, it appeared to be at first, as he turned to move out of the room with head held low, he was startled by strange figure that was leaning against the wall by the exit. clothed in robes and vestments, with a furry tan face dotted with a grinning muzzle, tan paws of the hands and feet, one of the costumers he so envied in what appeared to be a coyote suit. The coyote man chuckled a bit and spoke "What brings you here so early? You look a bit sad. Looking for someone,or something perhaps?"

Ren nodded slowly "Yeah...I was kind of hoping a dealer would be open already..I've been wanting a suit forever but...I'm kinda short on cash, I just came as a shot in the dark, I really want to be like those suiters, it seems to fun, everyone loves them. I wish I could be like them, have that attention on me too."

The coyote nodded his head "I see, I see, understandable, very much so in this group I must say. Hmmm, wish you say? You want one so badly as to wish for one? Perhaps I could be of some help then." Ren could almost swear the coyote's tail began to wag slowly, animatronic perhaps, an expensive accessory that made him all the more envious.

Ren looked up away from the tail and nodded agian "Yeah, I want one bad! You said you can help me? Please I'll do anything for one! Almost anything anyways. Whatever you need!"

The coyote grinned wide, more animatronics? Ren had never seen a moving facial expression, it looked so real. "Now now, it would be my pleasure to help grant the wish of one in such need and desire. Simply tell me what you wish, and it shall be so. Do be careful to make sure to say exactly what you want, word for word."

Ren beamed at the thought, it sounded strange but if there was a chance he'd have to at least try "Yes! I know what I want, I don't want just any suit, I want the best! Something that stands out from all the others! Can you make me one like that? That suits my personality too?"

The coyote's grin went wider, showing very realistic teeth "Of course..simply say it as a wish, and I will grant it, it sounds strange but humor me at the least."

Ren took a deep breath, it was odd to be asked to say it as a wish, but what harm could come from that, maybe the coyote was just really into character all the time. He blurted out with enthusiasm "Coyote, I wish for you to make me the greatest suit ever! Like the ones the others have but even better! Please! I really wish!"

The coyote perked his ears, reaching into a sack at his side and pulling out a rather strange item, a large collar with a gemstone dangling from it. "Very well, your wish will be granted, simply put this on and I will make you the greatest suit ever. It will be done in not time, trust me."

It took but a second for the coyote to offer the collar, and for Ren to put it on around his neck, it felt oddly warm, giving him a small tingle down his body. He looked over at the coyote oddly, he was just standing there against the wall still, if he was going to make the suit, wouldn't he be leaving already? "Hey umm, aren't you going to make the suit?"

The coyote wagged a finger "It's being made as we speak." Ren was a bit confused by this, how could it be being made right now? He scratches his head in a bit of confusion, not noticing the odd glow around the collar, originating from the strange warm crystal that dangled from it. A strong shiver went down his spine, his hands feeling warm and getting warmer, seeming to lose a little feeling, feeling softer against his head. As he pulled them before his eyes to look he could only gasp in shock, his hands were turning jet black, covered in a strange fuzz with the palms and fingers dotted by pink pads of some sort.

Ren was excited, was it magic perhaps? Whatever it was seemed to be making the costume right over his body as he stood there, the handpaws looking very well done so far. So entranced in the thought of this, Ren didn't notice the stretching of his ears, nor the pitch black fuzz that was growing on them as well. He felt another shot of warmth down at his feet, glancing down to watch as his shoes seemed to be dissolving away, to reveal blackening, swelling feet with only four toes. He looked between his hands and his feet, noticing the swelling making them take on a cute, toonish shape.

All seemed well, till he noticed the glow starting to overtake his arms and lower legs, his clothing seeming to dissolve into nothingness as the black fuzz grew up his arms and legs. This brought a very unusual feeling to them, his arms felt much lighter than before and oddly..hollow? He started to worry now, looking panicked, trying to pull of a handpaw but a sudden wracking sensation overtook his body, the glow had begun to spread all over, more clothing melting away, the black fuzz giving way to an orangish red fuzz partly up the arms and legs. His ears continued to grow, nos turning blacker in his vision as it seemed to grow outwards...and something was snaking it's way out from his rump.

He gasped for breath, looking over at the coyote who had removed his hood, and seemed to be sipping tea. He realized it then, that the coyote was no suiter, no man in a costume, he was a real coyote, something that should not exist. He winced, face pressing outwards into a sharp muzzle, ears growing atop his reshaping skull, creating the tapered noggin of a fox. Red, white, and black fuzz taking their proper positions. That thing at the rump felt heavy, and Ren looked back in shock, finding a large fluffy tail, definitely that of a foxes, dangling from his rump, oddly limp. He took it in one hand, pulling it close to look, it had the feel of a plush toy to it and he could feel it as if it were his own.

He shook his head, trying to call out for help, to ask the coyote what was happening to him, but the only thing that escaped his lips was a loud, long sigh as the orange-red, and white fuzz reached his chest, his insides disappearing into a hollow cavity inside. He shivered, his arms falling to his sides, mouth opening up slightly, filling with teeth, his eyes no long closing but still able to be moved with effort. He tried to move his arms, move his mouth, but it was to no avail, they simply would not respond, he could feel them there but nothing could coax them into moving.

He wobbled, taking a last look at his toonish hands and oversized toonish fox footpaws, feeling weak all over, his body starting to crumple and quiver. Seems began to appear around his wrists, and up above his ankles, even around his neck, a very well hidden zipper growing down his back. Ren cried a little, even as his vision was forced forwards, eyes turning into a hard plastic with a very cute, toonish look to them. He could still see, but could simply not control where he was looking anymore.

The coyote took a sip of his tea, watching Ren wobble on his feet for a second, things seeming to freeze in time for a split second before Ren toppled over backwards. His hands falling from the rest of his body to the floor, footpaws disconnecting and toppling over, one resting at his side. His body fell in a crumpled heap to the floor, his head falling down atop it, as it too was not long connected with the rest of him.

Ren cried inside, the only thing he could do, feeling his body in pieces, his ability to move and speak gone, he could somehow still see, hear, taste, feel, even smell. In fact his senses all seemed to be heightened to fit the species he represented. He wondered what had happened, this wasn't what he wished for, he wanted a suit, not to become one! Yet here he lay, a very very well crafted fox suit, ready to be worn and paraded about.

The coyote chuckled and moved over to the suit, picking it up, folding the body neatly, setting the footpaws on each side, the hands atop the body, and the head atop the hands. Ren felt all of this, the touch felt oddly good, even if incredibility awkward. The coyote wagged a finger "Tsk tsk, why are you upset? You got what you wished for, your exact words. You wished for me to make you the greatest suit ever made, and so I did, and so you are. You are self cleaning, self repairing, have an aura of appeal about you, shape to fit the wearer, self cooling, fire proof, water proof, and even have built in theft prevention. Truly the greatest suit ever made I must say. Do not fret, you will have your time in the spotlight."

The coyote placed a sign in front of Red, one he could not see for it faced the other way, before he took another sip of tea and seemed to vanish into a ripple in space. It wasn't long before someone else entered the room, another young man whom Ren knew as a friend, whom had wanted a suit almost as badly as he, but had the patience to save and wait. His friend stopped before the suit, taking the sign and reading it with joy, it listed the features of the fox suit before him, with a PS at the end "A gift to you dear friend, the greatest suit ever made! Enjoy it for me, I've found a new calling, and you wearing and enjoying this suit will bring me happiness and enjoyment as well! Your friend, Ren"

Ren was snatched up rather quickly, his friend running back to the room they were to share before Ren placed upon the bed to watch out the window as his friend undressed to his shorts in preparation to wear his new suit. He plucked up the footpaws first, slipping his feet into them happily, Ren felt quite strange at this, someone was entering into part of him and it felt really good. His friend unzipped his body, stepping into the legs, slipping into the arms, and zipping it back up, every movement bringing more pleasurable feelings to Ren, and more confusion than ever.

His friend took his handpaws, slipping his hands into them as well, before finally donning his head, the final completion of the new suit on it's wearer making him happy, and leaving Ren reeling with a pulse of pleasure. His friend walked around the room a bit, every step bringing more good feelings, every movement a tinge of pleasure. Ren could feel it all, everything his friend felt, everything his friend saw while wearing him, he could feel what his wearer felt, and it all felt so wonderful.

Ren and his wearer headed downstairs, just in time for the costume party and parade, everyone turning to look at the new suit. So well made, it stood out so much, it wasn't long before Ren had many revelers around him, asking his wearer where he got the suit, who made it. Throughout the night he was flooded with pleasure and happiness, the parade felt so wonderful, everyone loving him, taking pictures. The games bringing such joy, his wondrous features allowing his friend to win most of the games, and leading to their crowning as the best suiter at the event. Ren couldn't be happier, even if it meant living as a suit for the rest of his days, and with his features that could be a very long time

To this day Ren enjoys his new life, laying in wait to be worn and experience the things his wearer decides to use him for, he gathered many fans and much attention like he so wished. He still wonders who the coyote was, and where he went. Did he know Ren would enjoy his new lot in life? Perhaps he did...perhaps it was just a whim, or for fun coyotes are tricky like that, you see. Now if you will excuse me, my tea is getting cold and I really must not let it go to waste.

[[Category:Animal]][[Category:Anthropomorphic]][[Category:Coyote]][[Category:Canine]][[Category:Fox (author)]][[Category:Age regression]]

Wishes are fickle things, the product of dreamers, of hopes rooted in the fantasies of what one would rather have over their own lot in life. The grass is always greenest on the other side, wishes cloud the mottled weeds and bare patches from our eyes, and perhaps it is for this reason that wishes often come at a price.

Jason was a stressed fellow, his life had many twists and turns that strained his limits, leading his mind to wander into fantasy. How he wished to be free of the world around him, to soar the skies, to wield magic, sword, and other such powers that he felt would make him stand out. Every day amidst his work he dwelled on these thoughts, a creature of fantasy in his own mind inspired by a friend's character from a simple tabletop game they plaid on occasion. Tan fur, multicolored wings like that of a phoenix, a pension for magic and wit, and a very long if not unlimited lifespan without the pain of old age. A strange coyote named Aiden that lived like man, but in his own world and ways, an expert mage, an expert swordsman, in his mind Jason was all these and more.

Wandering minds such as his attract attention to those who wish to stir up chaos for their own enjoyment, and perhaps bring forth lessons to the dreamer as well. After a short session of the tabletop game he so enjoyed, Jason wandered the streets on his way home, still wrapped in his fantasy world. A movement in his path caught his attention, the brow fur of some sort of creature passing before him, familiar looking, a stray dog or perhaps one of the local coyotes that ran rampant even within the town borders. Jason felt an urge to follow, perhaps out of boredom, perhaps some yearning for his fantasy pressing him to observe the closest real creature to what he imagined, living in the world.

As he turned the corner onto a small street that lead towards the park he was forced to stop so as not to run right into the creature he had decided to follow. It stared at him, giving a small headtilt with that telltale grin, it was indeed one of the local coyotes, it's jade eyes staring right at Jason a small glimmer in it's muzzle, something it had stolen most likely. The creature raised it's hackles and dropped what it was carrying, before bolting off, yipping in what almost sounded like a laugh before disappearing down the street. Being a curious sort, Jason plucked the tiny object from the ground, looking over what appeared to be a native American trinket of some sort. He shrugged, finding the owner would be nigh impossible, and so he took it with home back to his apartment.

He was feeling a bit tired when he arrived, deciding to just lay down for the night, and it wasn't long before he was out cold, swimming in dream land, and dream he did. A strange coyote appeared before him, looking much like the one in his fantasy world, but silverish rather than the standard tan. The coyote tapped it's muzzle, smirking before he spoke "Hello there Jason, you seem to have quite a bit of luck, for the object you have found houses a special power to grant you a single wish, a wish I am here to grant. Simply speak it and it shall be so."

Jason was excited, even if it was a dream, a dream with a granted wish would be welcome, and so he described himself from his fantasy, the creature he saw himself as, and wanted so much to be, to be in that world, living as such a creature. "Such a wish is easily done, the long lived creatures sound quite regal, I must say they are a fine choice of canine, being coyotes and all like myself..hahaha...if that is what you wish, simply say so, everything about such a creature will come true for you, for you shall become one..everything." Jason shook his head, trying to rush the coyote "Of course I want it! Why wouldn't I? I know everything about them, and I love every bit of it, make me one of them, put me in that world!" The coyote grinned wide and snapped his finger "And so it shall be...hehehe..enjoy..." The coyote faded along with the dream, leaving Jason to awake with a start.

Jason looked around in a daze, everything seemed a bit fuzzy, what a strange dream he thought, rubbing his face with his hands to clear up the fuzz clouding his vision. It was then he noticed something strange, his hands felt a bit soft, and a quick look revealed a growing layer of tan fur sprouting all over his digits and hands, the palms and fingertips turning black before his eyes. The world continued to grow fuzzier, and Jason bounced up with excitement, was he still dreaming or was the wish for real? He looked over his hands, at his nails growing out into sharp claws, at the soft pawpads that were forming and the thick silky fur that had overtaken all his skin.

He beamed happily, looking down at his legs and feet, his legs too being overtaken by the soft tan fuzz, even as his feet cracked, toes merging and moving about to form into a digitgrade stance. Each toe forming a new pawpad, thick claws, and soft fur, his legs completely covered now. Within his pants he could feel the fur growing, something warm overtaking a hidden place down below, which he could guess to be a sheathe of some sort, squirming at the other unusual sensations of the shifting privates. The world kept growing fuzzy, hard to see now, not that he noticed it fully, nor that his clothing was getting a little loose fitting on his shifting form.

A pang from behind caught his attention, pulling at the back of his sagging shorts to make way for what he knew was coming, a tail growing out from his spine, quickly sprouting long tan fur, lighter on the underside and ending in a dark brown tip. The tail wagged with his happiness, his shorts and shirt bagging up a little more about him, the world faded away now into an odd swirling of opaque void. He danced a bit, almost tripping over his new footpaws, feeling fur growing up his chest and neck, lighter tan than the rest of his body, while the fur growing on his back grew dark into the strange saddle like marking of a coyote.

He giggled madly, feeling the fur covering his face, the pushing of his mouth and face out into a sharp muzzle, dotted by a wet canine nose, rimmed with sharp canine teeth and long lolling tongue. The reshaping skull hurt quite a bit, his ears folding with the pain even as they grew long and triangular atop his head, his eyes turning a soft jade. On his back, pain welled up quite a bit, something was pushing at his shirt, two lumps growing out into a new set of limbs, covering in blue, green, and silver colors and shaped like those of a phoenix. Something was odd about this though, they hadn't ripped his shirt like he imagined they wood, he looked back to figure out why and gave a startled yip.

The opaque void was starting to gain substance, greens, browns, odd feeling swirling about Jason as he shifted, the area was starting to look like the one from his fantasy, like the home Aiden was from. Jason was still distracted from this, especially after noticing how large his shirt was for him, the wings had not ripped the shirt for it was much too big and had allowed them their space. This wasn't right he thought, looking down to notice his shorts were much the same way, bunching up on the ground now as he seemed to be shrinking into them. He started to panic, crying out in a much higher pitched voice, all his new fur standing on end as he shrunk within his billowing garments.

The world around was becoming solid, people moving in another room could be heard although not understood, objects in the room foreign but somehow..childish. Jason struggled now, tears starting to form in his eyes against his wishes, his shape taking on a much cuter look, eyes a little large, paws fuzzy and slightly pudgy, that adult look from a moment ago was being swept away by what appeared to be a rather young coyote, one looking ever more the puppy by the second. He shivered a bit, feeling his mind starting to slip, the need to cry welling up more and more within his mind, his ability to form words dwindling a little, and all that knowledge from school seeming somehow..distant. He knew he should know these simple things but could somehow no longer grasp them.

He stopped shrinking, flopping onto his rump with only his head and a shoulder sticking out from the oversized pile that was his clothing. He looked over at the sharpening world, at the room he was in, noticing a reflection in some sort of orb like object nearby, still too blurry to see clearly. He moved over to it, dragging the clothing with him. He sniffled a bit, reaching the orb, and as he reached out to touch it the world suddenly snapped into place, everything as real as his apartment once was, and in the reflection of the orb he saw himself.

What stared back at him was indeed one of the creatures he wished to be, the marking were indeed that of Aiden, the character he wanted to be, but something was wrong. The Aiden he saw was just a pup no older than three or four years of age, and that pup was indeed himself now. He stumbled and fell onto his rump, tears welling up greatly in his eyes, this wasn't what he had wanted, he was supposed to be a full grown adult, not a child! He couldn't even remember the teachings he had as an adult, even if they felt close by somehow, much like the people in the next room he could feel, the strange sense of someone, something, some form of energy he could read instinctively.

He could barely hold in his tears, the coyote from his dream appearing in the orb and shaking his head. "Why cry little one? you got what you wished for, I did warn you that you got everything from their race, and you said you knew everything and accepted it. Did you just forget that this race ages much differently than your old human self? Someone your age is still just a pup after all, you have a long time of growing before you reach their adulthood. It's been a pleasure to grant your wish, enjoy your new life, Aiden." With a laugh the coyote vanished and with calling Jason Aiden his mind snapped. Jason, now Aiden could no longer hold back the tears, bawling loudly as only a puppy could do and catching the attention of those int he next room.

The two adult coyotes came rushing in to see what had upset their pup, picking up the youngster and hugging him close "It's ok Aiden, daddy is here, what's wrong? Did you trip while trying to wear my clothes again?" Aiden didn't know what to think, the name was his name, it even felt that way more than Jason did now, the male holding him made him feel more at ease, the female there made him feel warm. His parents, they felt like his parents, to Aiden they were his parents, with their aid he started to sniffle, eventually calming down. "There you go Aiden, all better. Big coyotes don't cry like that, you need to be strong so you can be the best mage, or swordsman ever! You wanna be that don't you? Come on, let daddy teach you a nice little magic spell."

Aiden wagged his tail and beamed happily, learning magic with his daddy would be wonderful he thought! He had his memories, although they seemed a bitlike a dream now...Ahh, dreams...the other side of the fence has switched, wishes no reality, reality now fantasy. I can't help but chuckle at Aiden's wish, after all I did warn him. Silly people never think things through, and that's what makes it all the more fun for a coyote like myself. Perhaps Aiden will learn this same enjoyment in time, I do look forward to it, perhaps he can join me in a few laughs. I do hope you enjoyed this tale, and remember this coyote's advice on dreams and wishes, or I may be paying you a visit as well. hehehe...

Fae watched from a distant cliff as the local kingdom set about it's business, scoffing in anger. The new king was more than determined to increase his expanse of property, regardless of the fact that his plans for expansion included the nearby forest. Fae was always at home in the wild, considering herself more of a ranger than a standard citizen, and after the recent accession to the throne she has decided to move into the forest that she had come to love. The workers from the castle town carried many tools with them, their plans for clear cutting and expanding the town were well set, and the promise of coin in the pocket garnished much support amongst the working class.

She sighed to herself, cursing her inability to do anything about the situation at hand. The forest was indeed large, but would the newly crowned dictator stop at his already set plans, or continue to overtake the forest in a sort of conquest. Sabotage only got so far, there were too many workers to have enough impact with the destruction of a few tools here and there. The local druid grove had done what they could, they loved the forest as much as her, but knew fighing the king would be fruitless. The elder druid, however, saw the passion in Fae's eyes and gave her an old, worn, furred glove, saying it would help her in her quest to stop the kingdom from destroying more.

The wind began to below across the treetops, creating a symphony of rustling branches and leaves, the rest of the forest falling silent as the first sounds of saw blades cut into the wind's song. It was time to move again. Fae traveled her normal path through the wood, a path only known to her and the animal denizens of the forest, arriving a short distance away from the camp of makeshift lumberyards and lumberjacks. She eyed the tents for sources of tools and workers, planning her attack, wary after almost being caught the last time by a few of the kings knights, sent to protect his expansion. Her gaze quickly fell on two such soldiers, cursing her luck once again, she'd need a different approach this time, for they guarded her target, and one woman against well armed knights would be almost suicidal.

The rustling of a nearby oak tree and chattering of upset squirrels caught her attention, the red furred creatures fussing over their home being disturbed by the obtrusive humans. She smiled, the oak tree was prime for firing on the tool storage tent, all she needed to do was climb to a lower branch and light one of her arrows aflame. one shot would set the tent ablaze, and hamper the efforts of the workers for at least a short while. She would risk being spotted, but this was more important, and she was faster than a knight in full body armor.

Fae moved quickly towards the tree, wearing the glove the old druid had given her, she looked around it's trunk for an easy foothold and began to slowly scale the old tree. It was hard going at first, thick from age and very few low laying branches left from the ravages of weather and time, but after a short while she seemed to find the scaling easy, nestling on the low branch that was her target. She winced a little as she prepared an arrow, her hands hurt from all the climbing, but she had a mission to tend to. She lit the arrow aflame, using lamp oil and some flint, and let it fly right into the tool tent, setting it ablaze and gaining the attention of the two knights, who quickly spotted the assailant on the tree branch.

They quickly ran to the base of the oak as she strung another arrow, this time aimed at a knight, a sharp pain in her wrist lead the arrow to go wild. she grabbed her wrist in pain, it was the hand that she had stuck into the furred glove, which she tried to pull off to no avail, it seemed stuck steadfast. She stared at it in confusion, almost falling from the tree as she spotted the growing claws from her fingertips, and the reddish fur seeming to spread down her arm from the glove itself. She had no way of explaining what was going on, her adrenaline pumping quickly and keeping her on her toes, even with the fur progressing fully down her arm.

The knights also seemed to notice this, backing away a bit and calling for support, workers and other knights gathering around the tree to trap Fae where she was perched, staring up at the shifting woman. the reddish brown fur had spread over her chest, down her other arm and even down her legs it was moving, brining a soft warmth with it as it crept over her form. Her other hand soon began to look like the gloved hand, claws growing from her fingertips, and soft pads growing on their palms. The fur moving down her legs seemed to pick up speed, much to both her horror, and the horror of the onlookers. Her feet cracking and shifting, causing her to kick off her shoes to reveal the clawed, furred feet, soles turned to pads much like her hands.

The knights began to mutter to one another, a few of the workers crying out in terror, some cries of the devil afoot sending a few running back towards the city. A pain in her rear made Fae double over, her pants ripping and tearing to make way for a snaking appendage that quickly poofed outwards in fur, curling over a bit at the tip and staying straight up along her back. More workers fled, and even one of the knights started to back away, noticing the squirrel tail that had sprouted from their attacker.

Fae stripped herself bare, noticing the red fur covering every part of her body, save her head, her fear seemed to be calming itself, something re-assuring her that this was the right thing for her. The fur crept up her neck and onto her face, she could feel her nose and face being pulled outwards slightly, her teeth reshaping inside of her mouth, large buck teeth dotting the middle of both upper and lower mouth. She clicked her tongue and smiled, ears pulling upwards into rounded rodentine ears, tufts of red fur growing higher atop them, almost like a lynx or bobcat would have, her once green eyes staining a dark brown, turning beady. She gazed down at the humans below and flicked her tail, the once human seeming to suddenly relish the changes she had just feared.

"Woe be to those who disturb this forest! Those who transgress upon these sacred grounds shall find themselves joining the local denizens, or finding themselves filled with my arrows! Begone humans, this be not your place!" Fae cried out in a defiant, commanding tone. A tone more than enough to send the rest of the workers running in fear, the knights backing away before taking their own quick paced leave, believing the transformation of the woman into a fox squirrel to be the work of some higher being, or devil.

Fae chuckled, looking herself over, not seeming to care about what had happened to her anymore, this felt better than the thought of being human again. With this she could guard the forest from the intrusive humans, and finally be one with the forest. The old druid must be smiling right now, Fae thought to herself, he had planned this all along.
: The darkness hid everything like a cold thick blanket, the man stumbled, tripping over a rogue root or branch, he didn't know and couldn't tell, nor did he care. He cursed his luck and the circumstances of his rushing through the lonely forest on this pitch black night, a night not even the moon wished to echo it's light upon the world. It was his own mistake that set him running, having ransacked the lowly shrine of the nearby sect and being caught in the very act of pilfering the offerings to the guardian of the sect. The followers of course did not take kindly to his actions, caring not that he stole to keep himself alive and fed, that he was a man without a place to call home. To them, he was a common thief, a vagabond preying on the weak and unsuspecting.

: Siv need not understand the language he heard when he ran, any man can understand the tone of curses and vengeance, the primal feeling of anger easily recognized without a need for words. He rose to one foot, kneeling with his other now aching leg, breathing labored heavy, his straining breath the only sound in the night. Perhaps he was alone now having run so far, the sect likely given up their hunt in the pitch of the night, not as foolish as he was he thinks to himself. Moving into a sitting position he pulled out a pack of matches, lighting one to inspect his plunder.

:The small source of light danced it's marks across the gold and silver idol, shaped like a wolf adorned in wreathes and studded with various jewels, even the most unskilled of appraisers would note it's value. Smirking as he thought about the sack of coin he would procure from his loot, he moved his gaze down to his leg, a streak of crimson flowing from a small gash midway up his leg glistening in the match light. Cursing to himself he stood up once again, such an injury would certainly slow him down, there would be no more running tonight.

:Siv wandered a short distance away, taking shelter under the expanse of an ancient oak tree, deciding it would be better to wait for sunrise than further risk his health and life in the pitch blackness of the forest. He tosses the match onto a small pile of leaves that nature generously had placed for him nearby, moving larger sticks onto it to create a small fire for himself. He sighed once again, setting the idol down in front of the makeshift fire and sitting against the tree's massive trunk. What a life I have come to live, he thinks, what a waste, what a tragedy. Wandering from town to town, leaving once his reputation preceded him and he could no longer remain lest lose his freedom. He longed for a place to call home, a family, a simpler life without so much danger, but it was much too late, he shrugged the idea off, re-assuring himself he had to make due with what he could manage.

:The jade eyes of the idol seemed to stare back at him, and he stared right back. Sorry little fried, he thought, this is my life, my way of living, I have no other choice, sounding more like a self re-assurance with only a hint of true guilt mixed in. Stretching his arms soon followed with a sharp pain and a wince, his shoulders seemed stiff, perhaps from all the running and fighting he had done to escape. He rubbed his left shoulder with his right hand, trying to ease the pain and stiffness, so stiff even moving his arms to rub his shoulders seemed a bit troublesome. Resting his arms and giving up on easing the stiffness of his shoulders, he gazed at the idol again

:A guardian of the forest, of the sect, of good harvest, this strange wolf was a god of sorts to those people. He had to chuckle, a wolf deity? In this day and age? It seemed such an antiquated idea. It was natural, he supposed, for a small group of weak individuals to revere a creature known for it's wisdom, strength, strength of family, and steadfast will. A crackle of the fire startled him for a second, much louder than he was expecting and used to, certainly not needed when his nerves were already on edge. Each crackle seemed just as loud, if not louder and he cursed his luck, the leaves and wood must be wet, he though.

:Rubbing his head as best he could with stiffened shoulders and arms, he moved his gaze to the fire itself, chuckling as even the flames seemed to take the shape of a wolf at times, he really had to get his mind away from the idol. Moving his gaze to his injury, he stared, wide eyed. It was as if the crimson streak had taken on a softer appearance, looking almost like a velvet covering. That couldn't be right, he must just be tired he assumed. That was until he noticed it spreading, seeping outwards like slow flowing water over and down his leg. He touched it and shook his head, trying to shrug off the illusion his tired mind must be creating, but to his shock and surprise what met his fingertips was not blood or flesh, but the feel of something soft and hairlike..."Is that...fur?" He thought out loud, shivering a little at the thought, "that can't be possible"

:One tug at the spreading, fur like area told him it wasn't an illusion cooked up by his tired mind, it brought pain and feeling with it, and with the pain a feeling of panic and nervousness. The crimson fur was still spreading, ever faster now over his leg, his arms suddenly seeming unable to reach downwards easily. He felt a ting of warmth upon his hands, looking down in horror to discover a patch of black fur growing on the back of each hand, spreading like the crimson fur on his leg. He jumped to his feet, shaking his body, trying to shake the fur off as if it were ashes from the fire, or water that had settled onto him, but still it remained, and still it spread.

:He could feel warmth now on his chest, back, and groin, and in a state of panic he quickly began to undress, discovering a patch of snowy white fur upon his chest and groin, crimson at his sides, but unable to see the streak of black like a saddle on his back. He looked at the idol, eyes wide and full of fear, the idol seemed to glare at him, staring as if it could see his soul, the fire flaring up a bit as if to accentuate the idol. The naked man started to scratch and tear at himself, doing whatever he could to try and remove the fur, to no avail. It continued ever spreading, his feet growing a layer of black fur, the white spreading up his neck and under his chin, even staining his long hair as white as the rest. He held the strands in view, long stands of fine hair that seemed to slip out of his grasp, pulling upwards towards their root, till they were the same texture as the fur around them, remaining a bit longer then the rest, going down the back of his neck like a short mane.

:He was fully panicked now, running on pure adrenaline and fear. He could feel the fur everywhere, only his manhood and palms of his hands, and soles of his feet still barren. He turned his hands over to stare at his palms, they seemed to be swollen and his pink skin staining a deep pitch black. Fur was growing around them now, forming a strange yet familiar shape from the swollen, barren skin...the shape of a pawpad. He shook his hands about in the air madly, fighting with what was happening to himself, every shake his fingers felt stiffer, shorter. He couldn't see them from the violent shaking, but indeed his fingers were shrinking, leaving the middle two the same length yet longer than the outer two, shorter yet the same size as each other. His nails growing white, curved, long, and thick, growing into claws for gripping and running. His thumbs bore a much worse fate, pulling up his wrists and leaving behind a small pad and dewclaw. He stopped the shaking as it became to hard to continue, gazing at was once his hands. Each fingertip now dotted by a pawpad, both hands now over sized paws of some sort, canine by the looks of it.

:Siv gave a short whimper, suddenly stumbling as he felt off balance and something wrong with his feet. He slowly looked down, somehow knowing what was the cause. His little toe had disappeared, his feet growing thinner, ankles cracking and growing upwards, forcing him to stumble about once again. The soles of his feet had taken on the shape of a pawpad much like his hands had, four toes shaping a telltale footpaw from what was once a human shape. His arms seemed to grow thinner, pulling inwards a bit, a crack of his knees sending him crashing to the ground on his chest. He looked back at them, his thighs pulling close to his body and making walking on two legs almost impossible. He propped himself up on what was his hands and arms, now a set of forelegs and forepaws, closing his eyes and whimpered again, his limbs, hands, and feet were those of a quadruped now, he knew this but tried to deny it in his mind.

:He gasped loudly, a very sharp pain jutting from his rear end snapping him from his delusional thoughts. Something was growing, forcing his skin to stretch outwards in ways it was not originally meant to be. He looked back in pain, seeing the snakelike visage of a tail bone covered in bare, black skin. It was long, he could feel it and with each tinge of pain he jerked it out of reflex. The fur from his body quickly spread down the snakelike appendage, growing longer then the rest of his body and forming an almost bottle brush appearance out of it. White on the tip, black across the top, and crimson the rest of the shape, it was most definitely a tail, his tail now.

:Straining his neck to look himself over, his view suddenly snapped forwards with a crack of his neck, his head and neck forced into a new position more suited to his shifting form. He cried to the night, it was so painful, he hadn't meant for this to happen, he hadn't wished this, it was his only choice! His cries and curses to the night startled to become garbled and mixed with odd growls and grunts, he could feel his ears, pulling atop his head and upwards, the sound of the fire almost deafening now, sounds of the forest once silent to him flooding his hearing. He cried agian, trying to clear them away, a guttural growl escaping his blackening lips as he tried.

:Pain shot through his entire skull, especially around his nose and mouth, bone crunching and stretching outwards as his skull compressed into a shorter, streamlined shape. It felt as if a giant had stepped on his head and was crushing it into a smaller shape, his cries growing less and less human by the passing second, tears falling from his eyes as he turned to look at the idol again. Still it glared, never moving but somehow seeming to follow his every move, was it to blame for this? He grunted, noticing the protrusion of his nose and mouth in his vision now, the compressing skull seemed to be pushing the bone of his mouth outwards into a broad shape, his nose turning black and moist, resting on the outer edge of the new muzzle, already covered in short fur.

:Gagging suddenly at the feel of his tongue being pulled longer, he opened his mouth in a wide gape and tried to spit at the ground. His tongue lolling outwards, long yet suited for the new muzzle that dotted his face, something was falling from his mouth, hitting his new tongue. Teeth, they were his human teeth, falling out of his black gums as new, predatory teeth grew in their place, filling his muzzle with the metallic taste of blood as they took root. He panted hard, his nose finally reaching his mind, flooding it was an overwhelming amount of scents and information no human had ever known, the flood almost knocking him off his feet, but a quick shake of his head cleared it enough to remain standing.

:He cried, the once human cries echoing outwards and canine whines and whimpers, short whining barks instead of words, growls instead of curses. He glared at the wolf idol, the jade of it's eyes reflecting in his own, seeming to flood them. The jade color overtaking his old hazel orbs and staining them in it's image. The firelight starting to gleam off his eyes, colors had become distorted, the night more clear then the pitch black it had been. In the reflection of the idol's eyes, Siv watched his human eyes fade away into the eyes of a canine, a wolf, and he collapsed to the ground, forelegs in front of himself and hind legs splayed outwards...there was no sign of humanity in the wolf he saw.

:He Looked himself over, every bit of his body was now that of a wolf, from the crimson, white, and black fur, to the paws on the ends of all four legs, he was now an animal, nothing more, and nothing less. He shivered in fear, crying upwards to the night sky, a cry echoing through the forest as a long, mournful howl of a lost wolf. The howl itself met with others, some threatening, some curious, and some worried and concerned. Hearing others was somehow reassuring to him, a feeling he tried to fight, it shouldn't be his to seek the company of wolves, but no matter how he fought it still remained, tugging at him to follow the voices of concern. The wolf idol seemed to give a hard stare, but not threatening as it was before, it almost seemed to be pressing him to find the other voices.

:Siv looked back at his belongings, then the idol one last time before his new instincts dragged him towards the concerned voices. He cried again, letting his feelings flow through the howl, it felt good, natural to him, and the responding voices seemed to be calling him over. He followed, moving through the forest awkwardly on four paws till he came to a small clearing. His tail tucked instantly as he noticed the small pack of wolves, somehow feeling safer, but inside he was terrified. The largest wolf came forwards, head and tail held high, and inspected the odd crimson furred, jade eyed wolf. Siv found himself rolling onto the ground and onto his back as if his body were out of his control, the larger wolf, obviously the alpha, standing over him and inspecting him, before trotting back to his hill and giving a gruff chuff to his pack.

:The pack moved over by him, snuffling and investigating, friendly, concerned about his health, somehow he knew the alpha had allowed him to stay, and it felt right to him. He couldn't fight it, his body and mind seeming to move on it's own when he did, there was nothing he could do. As he rubbed and snuffled with his new pack, Siv's last bit of resistance gave out on him, and he slipped into his new mind and life.

:A few days later, the leader of the sect walked over to the spent campfire and picked up the abandoned idol, smiling. He spoke to it, unaware of the crimson wolf that lay nearby, watching and listening. The curse of the wolf god, the crimson fur to note one who committed sacrilege against him. Those cursed would forever remain as wolves, never aging, never dying, completely changed in most every way, body and even soul. Forced to remain wolves for eternity for their crimes, and ensure that the god's children would never fade from the world. The leader chuckled, he had seen the crimson wolf the previous day and had known what had happened, that their idol was safe. He walked back to the village with a smirk.

:The crimson wolf shuddered a bit upon hearing this, realizing his fate now, what the color of his fur meant. He could never be human again, and would remain a wolf for all time, and he had only himself to blame. The idol hadn't removed his memories or fully his mind, perhaps as a way to remind him of his crimes. He watched the idol as the sect leader walked off, and it seemed to almost smile and wink at him, a play of the light perhaps? He sat on his haunches and pondered to himself. He was once a human with no home, a dark path, and nobody to turn to. Now he was an animal, a wolf, a creature with a natural, more peaceful path, he had found a home, and perhaps most importantly, a family to rely on. It was true he was not the alpha, but that did not matter to him.

:Perhaps the curse was not really a curse, he thought. Only those on dark and desperate paths would dare to steal such an object, ones like he himself once was. Perhaps in his own way the wolf guardian, god, or whatever it was, was providing a helping paw to those with no other options. A lesson, but a kind lesson. He shook his head and sighed a gruff wolf sigh, turning back towards his new home, how was he to know what that wolf god was thinking, he was just a simple wolf after all.
